Our Süsserfuss BV Harlequins opened the MASLW campaign with a commanding 9-3 victory over the Youngstown Nighthawks at home on Saturday. 

Northeast Ohio veteran, Emily Carr opened the scoring in the first period and lays claim to the Harlequins very first MASLW goal! Juli Knapp (Alyssa Soltis) added to the scoring with a sensational volleyed dink over the head of the goalkeeper, before Carr closed the first period with another goal.

Tatum Bradley (Jordan Hindmarsh) opened her MASLW scoring campaign in her new-found position up top for the Halrequins in the second period. Allison Habart (Alexa Langenfeld) found the bottom corner with a clinical finish following a streaking run forward from the defense. The match maintained it's intensity and physical nature that saw fouls on both sides of the ball. Knapp picked up her first blue card of the season but the Harlequins were able to withstand the power-play with a commanding defensive stand. The Nighthawks managed to grab a goal back going into the halftime break.

The third period maintained the game's physicality and tension with opportunities few and far between more than half way through the period. Thatis until the Harlequins broke through, effectively taking the wind from the Nighthawk wings with a slew of goals – two from Juli Knapp (Morgan Ross, Faith Estes) and one from Tatum Bradley (Emily Carr), a flick  from the center of the penalty area that looped over the keeper into the goal, claiming Goal of the Game honors.

Juli Knapp added her fourth in the fourth period to kill the game. The Nighthawks managed to score two, but the game had gone and Süsserfuss takes the win and is now (1-0-0) on the season! The Harlequins will play Youngstown again at home on December 21st at 7:30pm at home in the second of four games against the Nightawks this season.
